Apathy
A light read, "Apathy and other small victories" by Paul Neilan. Perfect if you just want to read and not to think. As my friend Pascal says it.. it's more of an inflight reading really.
Shane, the main character is a carefree guy, being mostly drunk with a f*ck-it-all attitude throughout the entire book. He manage to get himself in awkward situation and turn it into comedy in which obviously he's very proud to be in.
The part that I like about is the conversation between him and his supposedly girlfriend Gwen. When Gwen is trying to get some explanation of why he seems to be trashing his live away and he just doesn't care. Uncaring cold person. Almost like Albert Camus' Outsider.
I can see why this book would make someone's favourite list. Depends on the philosophy of your life, I think you might find this Shane character either very cool or very pathetic.
It took me sometime to finish the nobel prize winner "The Gospel According to Jesus Christ" by Jose Saramago.
